I have a vibrant and diverse personal network, with substantial representation from New Zealand's technical and education communities. In my twenty years living in Christchurch, I have managed to connect with a broad network of local educators and technologists. Through my advocacy and other professional activities, in both physical and virtual space, I have broadened that network substantially.
My networks span many social circles with concentrations in the technical and open source spheres, as well as music, dancing, sport and politics. I have consulted on IT policy for political parties, and I have received commendations on the floor of NZ Parliament for my work helping to stop the patenting of software in NZ. My networks extend well beyond the shores of NZ, with concentrations in the US (where I was born, grew up, and attended university), Europe, and Asia.
